Source Standards

The evidence hierarchy and citation rules used across GeneAnalyses.

Last updated 2 September 2026

Preferred source hierarchy

  1. Regulatory documents and drug labels from agencies such as the FDA, EMA, and MHRA for approval status and labelled indications.
  2. ClinicalTrials.gov records and peer-reviewed trial publications for study design, populations, endpoints, and results.
  3. Primary peer-reviewed research for molecular mechanisms and experimental findings.
  4. Systematic reviews and consensus guidelines for established clinical context.
  5. Curated databases including NCBI Gene, UniProt, ClinVar, COSMIC, and authoritative cancer-genomics portals for identifiers and annotations.

Citation rules

References should link to the most direct available source. A citation supports only the claim and context actually studied. Preprints, conference abstracts, press releases, and company announcements may describe emerging findings, but must not be presented as equivalent to peer-reviewed evidence or regulatory approval.

Freshness

Biomedical evidence changes quickly. The update date indicates when a curated page last received a material editorial revision; it is not a guarantee that every referenced result is the newest available. Readers should confirm current labels and guidelines before using information in practice.
